Tables and swimlanes
Tables are good for comparison and structured information, while swimlanes express the handoffs in a process between different roles, departments, or systems. Both let you edit cell content and styles directly.
Steps
- 1Create a table or swimlane
Choose a table or swimlane from the toolbar and create the initial row and column structure on the canvas.
- 2Edit cells
Double-click a cell to type content, or select one or more cells to set text, background, and alignment together.
- 3Adjust the structure
Add, delete, or resize rows and columns as needed. For swimlanes, settle the direction of roles or stages first.
- 4Add process relationships
Use connectors between swimlanes to express task handoffs, dependencies, and exception paths.
FAQ
When should I use a swimlane instead of an ordinary flowchart?
A swimlane is a better fit when a process involves several roles, departments, or systems and you need to emphasize ownership and handoffs.
Can I change several cells at once?
Yes. Marquee-select or drag-select multiple cells, then change the background, text style, and alignment together.
