Importing files and external mind maps

NuromBoard brings common documents, media, spreadsheets, and mind map files onto the canvas. Different formats are converted into elements suited to reading, editing, or referencing.

Main supported formats

These include images, GIFs, video, audio, PDF, presentations, Markdown, Word, Excel/CSV, JSON, TXT, XMind, FreeMind/OPML, GitMind, Excalidraw, Nurom local backups, and ordinary attachments.

Steps

  1. 1
    Choose the import type

Pick the matching format from the import entry in the whiteboard menu so you do not use the wrong conversion flow.

  2. 2
Select the file and wait for parsing

With large or complex files, wait for the upload and parsing to finish and do not trigger the import again.

  3. 3
    Check the conversion result

Confirm that text, images, tables, node levels, and attachments are complete, then adjust the position on the canvas.

  4. 4
    Save to the project

Keep the imported result and the original file together in the project so the source can be traced and edited later.

FAQ

Can I keep editing after importing XMind?

Supported mind map structures are converted into editable content; complex styling and third-party-specific capabilities may need to be adjusted again after import.

Why does a large file import take time?

The file has to be uploaded, parsed, and turned into canvas elements. Clicking repeatedly can create duplicate elements, so wait for loading and preview to finish.
